The Coeliac Association Malta together with the Board of A.O.E.C.S. is organising its 2nd A.O.E.C.S. Conference in Malta.  This will also coincide with its 20th Anniversary since the founding of the Coeliac Association Malta on the 8th July 1989.

The InterContinental Hotel is centrally situated and is located in the cosmopolitan area of St. George’s Bay, St. Julians, just 7 km from the historical capital – Valletta.  The Hotel has its own outdoor and indoor pool, fitness centre, sauna, and is just 2 minutes away from a sandy beach.  Restaurants, Night Clubs, Bars, Cinemas and Bowling Alley are all within reach.  – www.intercontinental.malta.com

Information:

For delegates wanting to extend their stay, visiting certain historical or scenic places, as well as sandy beaches or perhaps a trip to Gozo can easily be done using public transport.  The St. Julians Bus Station is just up the road from the Hotel.  Besides being the terminus for Sliema or Valletta,   direct buses  will also take you to the old city of Mdina, the fishing village of Marsaxlokk, the sandy beaches in the northern part of the Island, or to Cirkewwa where you can take the Ferry to the Island of Gozo or Comino.

Thursday 10th September   –  Medical/Scientific Meeting.  This is open to foreign and local Health Care professionals as well as to AOECS delegates..

Friday 11th September – A.O.E.C.S. Internal matters and WG Groups

Saturday 12th September – General Assembly

will report back to the General Assembly followed by discussions.

All meetings will be held at the InterContinental.  The Conference venue will also provide spacious areas for Exhibitors. Further information shall be posted on the AOECS website (www.aoecs.org) as well as on the CAM website (www.coeliacmalta.org).

As from this year, and to increase the participation of all AOECS members, the Board has decided to allocate a 1 x 2 metre space to each member society. AOECS members are requested to utilise this space to exhibit any informative material (Magazines, Newsletters, information booklets, posters) produced by their society.

A Press Conference is being organised on the 10th September where the Media and local TV Stations will be invited.  This will give coverage on what A.O.E.C.S. stands for and of course will help create further awareness on the coeliac condition and its strict dietary requirements.  The Press will also be invited to visit the Exhibition Area.

During a Board Meeting held in Malta end of January, it was kindly requested that a list of all Delegates and Exhibitors, with their contact details be drawn up, and included in the Conference package.   Due to the Data Protection Act, we shall be asking each delegate/sponsor/exhibitor whether they will accept to have their particulars on the list.

We are also offering a welcome service to all delegates which will include transfer from the Airport to the InterContinental Hotel.

* Please note, especially for delegates not coming in from the Euro Zone, that Malta International Airport has introduced a refundable €1.00 release trolley mechanism.
