| Prof. Dušanka Mičetić-Turk |
|
|
Prof. Mičetić Turk obtained her bachelor degree in medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka, Croatia in the year 1970. She performed the specialization in Paediatrics at the Clinical Hospital Ljubljana, sitting for the specialistic exam in 1976. In 1980, she obtained the Master degree at Medical Faculty, University of Zagreb, Croatia and her PhD at the Medical Faculty, University of Ljubljana in the year 1987.
In the year 1989 she became Assistant Professor in Paediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, and in 1994 Professor in Paediatrics at the same faculty. In 2001 she became a full professor at University of Maribor, Medical Faculty in the field of Paediatrics. From 1997 till 2007 she held the position of Dean of the University College of Nursing Studies, University of Maribor. Under her lead the college was transformed into Faculty of Health Sciences in the year 2006.
She is employed at University Medical Center Maribor. Since 1977 she have held the position of a full-time gastroenterologist at the Paediatric Clinic, as the Head of the Paediatric Gastroenterology Unit. Her particular research interest is concerned with the investigation of coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, nutrition and the importance of trace elements in children’s diet.
During her career she has written more than 300 research and professional papers published in recognised international and national journals, major conferences and co-authored some textbooks.
She is a member of ESPGHAN, ESPEN, UEMS, WACE (World Association for Common Education), ACCENDIO, New York Academy of Sciences, FINE and national professional societies.
In the year 2006 she was awarded with the title doctor honoris causa at the University of Oulu, Finland for her scientific and professional contribution in medicine and health sciences.

| Dr Ilma Rita Korponay-Szabó |

Dr Ilma Rita Korponay-Szabó M.D., Ph.D. is paediatric gastroenterologist, currently associate professor at the Department of Paediatrics, University of Debrecen, Hungary. From 2003 she also leads the Coeliac Disease Center in Hungary, located at the Heim Pal Children’s Hospital which aims to provide comprehensive service for patient care and opportunity for integrative research. In addition, she works in the Coeliac Disease Research Group of the University of Tampere, Finland. Dr Korponay-Szabó is taking part in several collaborative European Research Programmes on Coeliac Disease, including TRACKS Marie Curie Training Network on the study of transglutaminases and PREVENTCD designed to elaborate new guidelines for the introduction of gluten in genetically predisposed infants of coeliac families. In addition, she is member of the working group of the European Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition for formulating new guidelines for the diagnosis of coeliac disease. Her research interest is focused on coeliac disease antibodies and she was actively contributing to the development of a rapid coeliac test for clinical use.

| Dr Olof Sandström |

| Qualified as a medical doctor in 1999 and obtained his Ph.D. in 2000. He obtained his licence as a Paediatrician in 2006. Works mainly in paediatric gastroenterology and nutrition. He is also a researcher in celiac disease. Involved in the ETICS project (part of PreventCD), a school based screening study of 10000 children born 1993 and 1997, and in the register based research using the Swedish celiac disease incidence register. |

| Professor Riccardo Troncone |
|
| Professor Riccardo Troncone is Full Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Department of Paediatrics, University Federico II, Naples. He holds a research position at the Institute of Food Science and Technology, CNR, Avellino. Born in 1953, he graduated in 1977 and obtained the Diploma in Pediatrics in 1980. He worked as a research fellow at the Institute of Clinical Immunology, University of Florence, Prof. Romagnani, 1979-80; and at the Gastrointestinal Unit, the University of Edinburgh, Prof. Ferguson, 1985-87. He is member of several Scientific Societies of Pediatrics and Immunology and presently he is President Elect of the European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN).
His research interests are focused mostly on mucosal immunology; from a clinical point of view they include: coeliac disease, food allergies, inflammatory chronic bowel disease. He is the author of 3 volumes, 86 monographies/reviews, 112 original papers and of 184 contributions to national and international congresses. He is Senior Associate Editor of Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition (JPGN). He has been involved in two previous research projects on celiac disease funded by the EU (5th and 6th Framework) and is responsible of a workpackage in a current project on prevention of celiac disease (CD Prevent) in the 6th EU Framework.

| Dr Federico Biagi |
|
| Doctor Federico Biagi graduated in Medicine in December 1990 at the University of Bologna. In 1994 he was awarded a diploma as a Specialist in Geriatrics and in 2004 in Gastroenterology. From January 1997 to December 1998 he worked at KCL (London, UK). Since1999 he has been working as lecturer in Gastroenterology at the University of Pavia. He is interested in small bowel diseases, particularly in coeliac disease. |

| Dr James Dalrymple |
|
| Currently holding the positions of Principal in General Practice, at Dayton and St Faiths Medical Practice as well as Hospital Practitioner with the Department of Gastroenterology, Norfolk and Norwich Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer and GP Tutor at School of Medicine, Health Policy and Practice, University of East Anglia. As a GP has a wide range of research interests reflecting the broad span of primary care. However, over the past 4 years this has focused on Gastroenterology in primary care. Has been a member of the NICE GDG in dyspepsia and IBS. In addition, he holds the chair of the Primary Care Society for Gastroenterology. Currently, he is researching into dyspepsia in primary care. He is also evaluating the care of patients with gastroenterological conditions as a member of the implementation committee; the Health Foundation funds this project. He has published extensively in a number of high impact journals |

| Ms Florence van Klinken |
|
Florence van Klinken works as a dietician for the Dutch Coeliac Society.
In 1989 she obtained her certificate at the Heemgaard in Apeldoorn, a school for secondary education. In 1992 she started her bachelor's degree in Food & Nutrition at the HAN (Hogeschool Arnhem en Nijmegen, an institute for highter vocational education) in Nijmegen where she qualified as a dietician in 1996.
In the same year she started working as a dietician in several areas of healthcare; nursing and reactivation center for the elderly, substitute dietician in various hospitals in the area of Apeldoorn. In 1999 she started working fulltime at the Havenziekenhuis, a general hospital and Institute of Tropical Diseases in Rotterdam. She specialised in patients with Diabetes Mellitus type 1 and 2 and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). Furthermore she was involved in research with patients having chronic intestinal complaints.
In 2006 she started working for the Dutch Coeliac Society in Nijkerk. The main focus in her work is education on Coeliac Disease and the gluten free diet through lectures, workshops, developing brochures and writing articles on coeliac disease and the gluten free diet. She is also an active member of the national dietetics network: DINC (Dietician Info Network Coeliac Disease). |

| Dr Josianne Scerri |
|
|
Dr Josianne Scerri completed a Bachelor’s degree in Education graduating with first class honours. She continued her postgraduate studies obtaining a Masters in Education. Her doctorate was obtained from the School of Psychology, University of Nottingham, where she conducted a prospective study on the Illness representations and related outcomes in patients with chronic diseases having genetic/environmental triggers and their carers. She has been an invited keynote speaker addressing diverse groups, amongst which health professionals, patients, carers and the scientific community. She has also had papers on chronic disease translated and published in various countries amongst which Germany, Switzerland, Russia, Belgium, Hungary and Luxembourg.
Dr Josianne Scerri has presented papers at various international conferences amongst which the Annual conference of the British Health Psychology society, International conference on skin and wound care, European meeting on psychosocial aspects in genetics, International conference of applied psychology, European Health psychology conference and International medical conferences on coeliac disease.
At present Josianne is a lecturer with the Mental Health team, University of Malta. She lectures and delivers workshops on aspects of chronicity to a wide range of students amongst which nutritionists, occupational therapists, general and psychiatric nurses and pharmacists. She is at present working on developing the curriculum for a Master’s degree in Mental health and is continuing her research in psychosocial aspects pertaining to chronic disease. Contact email:
