As part of the International Coeliac Day, the Coeliac Association Malta organised two major activities. The first activity was organised on the 15th May and consisted of a tree planting activity. In actual fact one tree was planted to commemorate the International Coeliac Day whilst a second tree was planted on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the foundation of the Coeliac Association Malta.

The Coeliac Association Malta is a voluntary self-help organisation for people with Coeliac Disease or Dermatitis Herpetiformis. It was founded in 1989 by Coeliacs for Coeliacs and Membership is open to those who have been medically diagnosed as being Coeliacs.

The aim of the Association is to help and support all newly diagnosed thus improving the quality of life of every coeliac patient It does this by providing useful information about the Condition and the gluten-free diet.

It endeavours to create a greater awareness of the coeliac condition by organising a lot of activities whereby family and friends are also encouraged to attend.

The Association makes it a point to increase awareness within the hospitality industry. i.e. hotels and restaurants

The Coeliac Association Malta is a member of the Association of European Coeliac Societies (A.O.E.C.S.). A network which also spreads out to Canada, America and Australia. Locally, it is also a member of the Federation of NGO's, the Malta Health Network and is enrolled with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations.

The Coeliac Association Malta also reaches out to visiting Coeliacs whether coming out on holiday, business, Conferences or even those who would like to take up residence in Malta.

Updated Lists of gluten free friendly Hotels and Restaurants as well as Outlets (Health Shops or Supermarkets) are available on request.

Visiting Coeliacs are also very welcome to attend our social activities.
